Your data stays on this device unless you choose to send it.
PadBench reads your controllers here, in this browser tab, and keeps what it measures here.
After the page loads, nothing is sent unless you ask, and today nothing can be: Feedback opens your own email app with what you wrote, and nothing goes until you send that email. Sending feedback from the page itself, controller reports and loading spec sheets come later, and each will show what it sends before it goes.
The page loads only PadBench's own files, from padbench.com, among them the list of controller models it recognises your controllers by: the same file for every visitor, whatever you connect. No cookies, no analytics scripts, no third-party fonts or scripts. Your browser's developer tools show every request.
padbench.com is served through Cloudflare, which sees each visit's IP address, as any web host does, and counts the visits for PadBench without any script on the page. PadBench stores no IP address.
What is kept on this device
Each of these is kept in this browser's storage for padbench.com until you change it or erase it, and none of it is sent.
- Light or dark mode, once you choose one. Choosing Auto erases it.
- High contrast, once you turn it on. Turning it off erases it.
- The language you chose, once you choose one.
- The layout and labels you chose for each controller, and which pad you said it is with the name it reports, by its vendor and product id, or its name when it reports none.
- Which of a controller's buttons is which, as your guided capture of it found, with the name it reports, by its vendor and product id.
- The notices you hid with Not now.
- Keyboard mode's key mapping.
- Whether the debugging details are shown. Hiding them erases it.
- The motions the motion check has found, which way you face, and whether it shows them. Clear, in the list of motions, erases what it found.
- Which view you chose last, Standard or Advanced.
- The controllers you allowed in advanced mode, which the browser itself keeps for padbench.com. Stop advanced mode makes it forget one, and so does resetting the site's permissions in your browser.
- In the tab's history, while it lasts: where each page was scrolled to, and which dialog each step opened, so Back and Forward return to them.
Erasing it
Clearing this site's data in your browser erases all of it.
